Professor Dr. Neil Bruce and his research team (Dr. Leonardo Gomez, Dr. Nicola Oates and Mr Daniel Leadbeater) at Centre for Novel Agricultural Products (CNAP), Department of Biology, University of York have visited to Faculty of Biosciences and Medical Engineering (UTM) as part of the Global Challenges Research Fund activities awarded by Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, UK.
Our Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation), Professor Dr. Fahrul Zaman Huyop presented a warm welcome to our honourable UK visitors followed by the introduction of our Faculty and programs that are offered by the Faculty. Our UK visitors also introduced the research activities in CNAP together with their facilities at York. This was continued with a discussion on potential research collaboration activities between UTM and University of York in field of biotechnology. Our honourable UK visitors were also brought for a tour to our research laboratories by Assoc. Prof. Dr Madihah Md Salleh.
Other activity of the Global Challenges Research Fund in UTM included a workshop on Oil Palm Residues Biorefinery. Members from UTM who have attended the workshop were Prof. Datin Dr. Zaharah Ibrahim (FBME), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Madihah Md Salleh (FBME), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zainura Zainon Noor (IPASA), Dr. Adibah Yahya (FBME), Dr. Goh Kian Mau (FBME) and Dr. Chong Chun Shiong (FBME), together with some students from FBME. A public lecture given by Professor Dr. Neil Bruce was also held at Seminar Hall, T02, FBME, UTM.
