This CSR event is co-organized by UTM, Akademi Sains Malaysia (ASM) and Young Scientists Network Malaysia. ASM has been organizing NSC since 1999 to promote, nurture and enhance interest in science, technology and innovation among school students.
This year, the Grand Final will be held in August 2016 where champions from each state will battle out. At the Johor state level, 5 best teams have been selected from the First Round held in early April 2016 and will compete against each other in this event. The 5 best teams are SMK Tinggi Kluang, SM Sains Batu Pahat, Sekolah Tun Fatimah, MRSM Muar and SMK (P) Sultan Ibrahim.
Besides the NSC competition, UTM have in stored exciting Science Outreach Programs for the supporters of the schools which are consist of Programming Arduino, Prototyping Lab, Gravity Challenge, Fly Paper, Magnetic Train, Chemistry on the Move, Microbes Around Us, Biodiesel, Green Energy Race, Pinapaper, Sustainable Kingdom and Chem-E Car, thanks to the UTM staff and students from FCEE, FS, FBME and CSI.

Our faculty involved in one of the Science Outreach Program called “Microbes Around us”.
“Science outreach programmes in conjunction with the Johor level National Science Challenge 2016. FBME opened up a session to teach the school kids how to culture bacteria, from their hands. Hopefully they will not forget to wash their hands before meals after this!
