About lab

The Biosensor and Biomolecular Technology Laboratory was founded in 2013. Located on Level 2, Block T02 at FBME, the laboratory has housed many local and international postgraduate and undergraduate students. This laboratory is equipped with instruments and facilities suited for various environmental biotechnology-based research projects. Students in this laboratory mainly work on isolation of microorganisms from an array of sources, including samples from the Arctic and the Antarctica, extreme environments such as mining, with an eventual purpose of applying the microorganisms for bioremediation and biosensor development. The research projects conducted in this laboratory are currently funded by grants from various organizations. The resulting findings from each project have been published in a multitude of indexed journals.
